The kitchen is one of those rooms that gets used constantly - cooking, eating, homework, morning coffee. When the lighting in there is dim or throwing off a yellow, washed-out glow, it makes everything just a little harder than it needs to be. That's exactly the situation here.
These fixtures are a classic setup you'll find in a lot of older homes - long fluorescent box lights mounted flush along the upper cabinets. They work, technically. But fluorescent bulbs put out uneven light, run warmer, and over time the diffuser panels start yellowing. The whole kitchen ends up feeling darker than it should.
We swapped them out for new 8-foot LED fixtures. Same footprint, cleaner output. LEDs spread light more evenly across the workspace, and they run cooler and more efficiently than fluorescent tubes. In a kitchen where you're reading labels, chopping vegetables, or just trying to see what's in the back of a cabinet - that even, bright light actually matters day to day.
It's one of those upgrades that doesn't change anything structural about the kitchen but immediately changes how it feels to be in it. Better visibility, lower energy use, and bulbs that will last significantly longer before needing any attention.
Small electrical upgrades like this are a big part of what we do. If your kitchen lighting feels stuck in a different decade, this kind of swap is straightforward - and the difference it makes is hard to ignore.
